Incas, Aztecs and Mayans used almost every part of the plant for food, shelter, fibres and ceremonies. As a result, the Bromeliad is viewed as a ‘gift from the gods’ in these countries. As a houseplant, Bromeliad represents ‘protection’: a reference to the full, green foliage that surrounds the beautiful coloured part.
Tropical flowers are often associated with luxury and prestige. Rich blooms in deep colors can mean wealth or success in life or love. Softer shades may often mean a wealth of beauty, charm or elegance.
As they hail from warmer climates they are associated with passion. Red blooms are often the best known way to show passion to someone. For this reason, red bromeliad blooms are an exotic flower for love.
